How to continue playing games even as an adult? Suggestions for how to enjoy games only for adults

Once you become an adult, it is difficult to continue playing games as a hobby. It’s a topic that is often talked about, but I’m sure there are many young gamers who think, “That can’t be true.”
The author mentioned above was one of them.

The other day in a note I wrote “Survival strategies for family owners in their 40s to remain active gamersAfter reading the article, I thought about something, so I would like to write about this topic.

First of all, I’m currently 45 years old, but I think I’m pretty good at playing games. I don’t have a family, so my situation may be different from many people my age.
However, I have several businesses, so I think I’m about 70% as busy as people with families.

I continue to play games by making it my job, but I also often play games outside of work.

A friend came over the other day, so we played a watermelon game. Writing it down like this makes it feel like work, but I also play games like this that are just for fun.

However, I can also understand the circumstances and feelings of people who are no longer able to play games as adults.
First of all, I really don’t have time. To be more precise, I can’t stay up late or waste my days off playing games.

When you become an adult, you have a job and a family, and you need to enjoy your hobbies to the extent that it doesn’t interfere with that. You may be too excited to stay up all night until the morning, but it’s fun to immerse yourself in games in that way. If you can’t do that, and you have to quit the game after, say, an hour, it’s quite difficult and you lack the motivation to start the game.

I think another big factor is that reality is becoming more complex than the game.
When you are a child, there are many things you don’t know about the world, and new experiences are very refreshing. As we grow up, we gain experience, and many of our experiences can be inferred from similar experiences in the past. It’s the same with entertainment such as games, and we can or feel like we can infer many things about games, such as the story, the characters, the system, etc. Then, as you grow up and your world expands and reality becomes complex enough, you realize that you can experience many things without

playing games.
As a result, the excitement of embarking on a new adventure will inevitably be weaker than it was when you were a child.

So, is it okay if it’s a completely new and innovative game? That’s not so simple, and in that case, it takes time to learn how to play the game. If it’s a novel game, you’ll have to learn the rules and worldview of the game, but given the limited time mentioned above, it’s difficult to do so.

So, when you become an adult, it becomes difficult to enjoy games as much as you did when you were a child, but there is one privilege that adults have. What it means is that you can enjoy the games you used to play when you were a child again in the way you feel today.

When I play games, the feelings I had as a child come back to me. At the same time, there are also impressions that can only be felt because I am an adult now. For example, the Dragon Quest series may be a good example. Pizarro’s emotions and Papas’ thoughts may be interpreted differently by adults and children.

I think that for many people, as they grow up, it becomes a luxury to play a new game thoroughly. That’s unfortunately true. However, as I look back on my childhood, I play the same game with a different feel. This is a privilege for adults, and since it’s a game you already know, it might be relatively easy to stop playing after an hour, although it depends on the person.
If you no longer enjoy playing games as an adult, why not try looking for updated versions of games you used to love?
