Hello, I’m the administrator of SQOOL.NET.
The SQOOL GAME AWARD just wrapped up, and I can finally catch my breath. Now, we’re gearing up for September’s biggest event in the game industry: the Tokyo Game Show.
SQOOL will once again participate as a media member, but this year we’re planning to focus more on gathering information about indie games.
In a exciting development, SQOOL has established its first game development company in Japan: WingWinkWorks. As a small company, we’ll operate in the indie game space. However, the concept of an indie game is quite vague, leading to diverse approaches in branding and marketing. At worst, it can be unclear what we’re actually doing. That’s why I’m eager to learn from indie games worldwide.
Speaking of indie games, we’ve also decided to participate in two game events in Greater China this year.
One will be held in Shanghai, China:
The other will be in Taipei, Taiwan:
Both events spotlight recently launched indie games and have gained significant local popularity. They’re similar to Japan’s Tokyo Game Dungeon, though this will be my first time attending either.
I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences at WePlay and G-EIGHT through articles or videos, so stay tuned!
