Hello, I’m the administrator of SQOOL.NET.
I haven’t updated this blog corner for a while, but I have some thoughts on this and would like to update it.
SQOOl.NET started operation in January 2013, and 11 years have already passed.
Speaking of 2013, Puzzle & Dragons, which was released in 2012, is rapidly expanding in popularity, Monster Strike was released in 2013, Granblue Fantasy was released in 2014, and Fate G/O was released in 2015, making smartphone games a hot topic. It was a time when the market was expanding.
SQOOL.NET started by posting strategy information for such popular games, and gradually became a news media in line with the trends in the gaming world, and then transformed into a discursive media.
As a small media company, SQOOL.NET was extremely grateful for the support from indie developers.
Unlike the game media of major companies, SQOOL.NET does not have a solid foundation, and has continued to grope its way through the media, but has also unintentionally covered small and medium-sized games. .
Even before the word “indie” had come into use, I started picking up all kinds of interesting things, big and small, that I thought would be interesting to users if I wrote about them. The so-called indie world was starting to do a lot better.
So, I thought that there was something I could do to give something back, and I thought, “Why not give an award to indie games on their own?”The first memorable event was held around the Digigame Expo venue, and the editors I started giving awards by putting stickers on the booths of games I wanted to praise.
The person who received the award might have said, “What are these guys? SQOOL? I don’t know?”, but at least on the surface they were happy, so I decided to spread the word about it more widely and encourage more self-recommendations. Regardless of the selection, we’ll give you various awards, and maybe even send you a trophy! The bad vibes grew and we started to think that this year we should finally stream it live on YouTube, and that it would be great if we had some sort of sponsor.
I also wanted to be able to support the developers in a more specific way, and for the winning titles, I would like SQOOL to be able to do a little bit of marketing support for the released titles. I thought it might be a bit strange even if I was asked to do so, so I decided to only recommend myself from now on.
So, this is a very rough look back from 11 years ago until now. The world has changed a lot, but I think we have changed a lot too. I’m looking forward to seeing what it will be like in 10 years.
Thank you for your continued support.
